We hope you enjoy these original, hand-carved pieces by Robert Whitehead and trust that they will open your eyes to the possibilities that wood carving presents. Consider corporate gifts, carved doors, mantle carvings, wildlife sculpture or carved timbers in your log home or timber frame.
This site offers a sampling of our designs, inviting you to contact us to view more of our patterns or work with us on a design of your own! Though Bob's passion is wildlife, he's enjoyed working with customers on a variety of themes, to bring to life your vision. Commission pieces range in form and theme and are a welcome challenge for the carver. We start with an original drawing, to work with our clients in fulfilling their vision. Locally collected domestic wood, including birch, fir, pine, cedar and spruce, are dried and milled by the carver. Exotic hardwoods are often worked with, on request. Bob achieves great high-relief dimension in his carvings, and then, using a unique shading technique, highlights the details, to create further depth. Bob Whitehead has, from an early age, worked to use his natural artistic talents in celebrating Canada's wildlife heritage. His fascination for the three dimensional expression possible with wood carving, has lead to a 20 year career of carving, with pieces residing worldwide. The exquisite detail incorporated into his work has won special comment, and awards at Juried Art Shows. True to his roots, Bob has continued his attachment to his natural environment, making a home with his wife and two teenagers on his hobby farm. When you can’t find Bob carving, you’ll probably find him in the round pen, training horses!
